We have been waiting to hear proper music from Joel Compass for quite some time now and are delighted to say that day has arrived. The London-singer astonishes with his debut track Back To Me - it starts off as a sparse R&B song, but as the song evolves it gets a lot more ethereal, almost experimental. With a voice as pure as that, we’re wondering why anyone needs to be brought back to him - we’d run to him rightaway.
MS MR have unveiled their new single Fantasy, the title track and first song off the duo’s forthcoming debut full-length. No need to introduce this NY-duo here on DN, as we’ve shown a lot of love for them in the past and Fantasy reaffirms they’ll get a lot more DN-luvin’ in the (near) future. Fantasy is a big track, catchy and somewhat edgy too - the backing vocals combined with steady hand clapping are what keep up the pace and make the song very exciting. (via)
Every once in a while, the girls of Girl Crisis hook up and perform a somewhat acoustic version of a classic everyone knows (or should know) and record themselves on a super8 whilst performing. It’s been 9 months since they brilliantly covered Ace of Base’s The Sign, but today they have unveiled a romantic cover of Leonard Cohen’s Dance Me To The End Of Love.
While “music is my mantra” may come off a bit shabby, Abigail Wyles debut track Mantra is everything but a shabby affair. Along with her cohort Holly Simpson, Abigail creates beautiful otherwordly-pop with an earthly pop sense. Swirling, melodious and infectious, Abigail makes music sound like a breathe: easy, yet essential.
